Quality
Counsel International was formed by its founding member law
firms in April of 2005. The senior members of the law
firms within its affiliate network previously practiced law
at large national and multi-national firms, including
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, one of the oldest
and largest firms in San Francisco, Skadden, Arps, Slate,
Meagher & Flom, an internationally reknown firm in New
York City, and Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP,
headquartered in Chicago.
Built
on a solid base of general representation of domestic and
foreign corporations, entrepreneurial businesses and business
people, as well as individual consumers, the practices of the
firms in the QCI network reflect the varied interests and
experience of the attorneys who are members of these firms as
they serve the evolving needs of a very diverse client base.
QCI is actively involved in assisting its affiliate firms as
they continue to build capabilities in core practice areas to
match those offered by the largest multinational firms. To
accomplish this, QCI encourages the law firms in its network
to develop flexibility among their attorneys in order to
respond quickly, creatively and efficiently to new
assignments.
Through
its member firms, QCI offers significant capabilities in
commercial law, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and
strategic partnerships, as well as in venture capital
financing, securities, e-commerce, food & drug regulation,
environmental and company bankruptcy law. A sophisticated
financial and investment-oriented practice includes
capabilities in transactional lending, venture capital and
private and project finance. The network's international
practice, serving small and medium-sized foreign corporations
and individuals with business interests in the United States
and elsewhere, cuts across many practice areas.
Among
QCI's member firms are several which posses full-service,
strong litigation experience and capabilities in resolving the
full range of corporate and commercial disputes (including
those involving allegations of white-collar crime or other
civil and criminal fraud). Several of the firms
have significant experience in representing clients in the
food & drug, environmental, and other heavily regulated
areas, both before administrative agencies and the courts..
Other firms possess significant experience in in employment
and gender discrimination litigation and in helping client
companies resolve other workplace disputes and issues without
resort to litigation. The QCI network also contains law firms
with sophisticated real estate departments, having significant
experience in every phase of real estate investment,
development, financing, leasing, land use, environmental
issues and joint ventures; and an active creditors' rights and
workout practice, with experience in corporate bankruptcy
litigation and resolution of complex creditor-debtor disputes.
Rounding out the practice areas available through QCI-affiliated
firms are corporate and individual tax planning and
litigation, as well as advising clients in the trusts and
estates area.
Through the QCI network, each of its
member firms is able to develop and maintain close
relationships with law firms throughout the United States and
the world, thereby enabling them to help meet specific client
needs anywhere in the world..
